Summary The LHC has sought explanation from VCs of six universities till August 15.

Two-member bench of LHC led by the Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry started hearing of the petition filed by Ahsan Umair. According to the petitioner, all the vice chancellors of six universities of Punjab were appointed on favoritism violating departmental rules and regulations. The vice chancellors of the University of Education, the University of Sargodha, the Bahauddin Zakria University Multan, the Fatima Jinnah University Rawalpindi and the Lahore College University for Women were made defendants.After hearing the petition, the prestigious court issued notices to the said VCs seeking explanation from them till August 15.
