Summary NEPRA has increased the rate of electricity by Re 1.04 on Central Power and Purchase Agency demand.

The Central Power and Purchase Agency took a stance in an application to NEPRA that the power tariff should be increased by Re 1.04 per unit as the three billion units of electricity out of 9.13 billion units were produced from furnace oil in the month of June.On the other hand, a fine of Rs 25 per unit was paid to a power plant in the wake of shortage of fuel while the tariff of electricity imported from Iran has been doubled.The NEPRA chairman in his remarks asked the government to provide uninterrupted supply of fuel power plants.The increase in tariff will be in effect from next month while the consumers using less than 50 electricity units will be exempted from the tariff raise.
