Cabinet says all institutions must work within limits

Secretary Establishment crossed his limits, he added.Prime Minister Gilani called upon the Ministers to address genuine problems of the masses as people look towards their elected representatives for redress of their grievances.Gilani said that functions and jurisdictions of all state institutions have been categorically defined in the constitution.Discharge of duties responsibly by state institutions will create an environment that would be instrumental in economic development, Gilani stressed.The government does not want confrontation with any one urging he is a politician and will remain so, he added.Firdous said former federal law minister Babar Awan was called on a special invitation to attend the cabinet meeting. Awan briefed the meeting on the legal aspects of Establishment Secretary’s removal. The secretary transferred official Hussain Asghar without consulting the Gilgit-Baltistan CM, the information minister quoted Awan as telling the cabinet.
