Summary Gilani said that despite all odds, the government had added 3,000MW power to the system.
Addressing to the inaugural session of the 71st annual session of Pakistan Engineering Congress (PEC), Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that power crisis was not occurred today but was inherited. He stated that the government was also working on projects of importing power and gas from Iran, adding that the PPP government was building a consensus on construction of the Diamir-Bhasha dam and initiation of Thar coal projects to end the load shedding.The prime minister said that not a single megawatt had been added to the national grid for decades, but the present government initiated short, medium and long-term steps to end electricity shortage.The PM assured the engineers that the government would support them for country’s uplift. He also hailed their services for the flood victims and assured them that amendments would be made in service structure in the light of Engineering Service f Pakistan’s recommendations.
