Summary The Central Power Purchasing Agency has requested the NEPRA to increase tariff by Re 1.13 per unit.

The demand of increase in tariff has been made for the distribution companies under fuel adjustment formula for the month of June. The Central Power Purchasing Agency has stated in the application that additional payments had been made to power plants due to surge in fuel prices, increase in line losses and shortage of oil and gas supplies, therefore electricity production cost has increased.The NEPRA will decide about the increase in electricity tariff after the final hearing.
