LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Health Department has decided to keep operation theaters closed for two more weeks due to surge in the coronavirus cases in the province, Dunya News reported on Monday.

The Punjab Health Department has also said that surgeries will not be allowed in treasury care hospitals till May 10. However, this decision will not apply to emergency surgeries.

The Punjab Health Department has written letters to the heads of all hospitals and medical institutions in this regard. The decision was made as the severity of the COVID-19 cases did not decrease. The situation will be reviewed again on May 11.

Earlier, on April 20, it was announced that the operation theaters would be closed till April 27.

It is pertinent to mention here that the OPDs of Mayo Hospital and Jinnah Hospital are completely closed. The departments of nose, ear, throat, skin, and psychiatry are closed in all treasury care hospitals.
