Summary Pir Pagara has demanded that the Army be called to improve situation in Karachi.
However, Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the politicians should not indulge in point-scoring on the Karachi unrest. He said “the abettors of the lawbreakers are the friends of the Taliban”.The Interior Minister earlier went to the Kingri House, the residence of Functional League chief and Hurs leader Pir Pagara. Rehman Talking to the media, Rehman Malik said the government’s new strategy to control law and order in Orangi has started to pay off. He said the Rangers have taken control of the troubled areas and indiscriminate action would be taken against miscreants.Pir Pagara however expressed dissatisfaction with the situation in Karachi, and underlined the need for calling in the Army.Asked about the possibility of talks with the MQM and ANP, Pir Pagara nodded in the negative before Rehman Malik could say anything. Malik though said later that he was in contact with both the parties.The Interior Minister also visited Katti Pahari amid tight security to express solidarity with the area residents.
