Summary Interior Minister Rehman Malik said that the Army could be called to control situation in Karachi.

Talking to the media after a meeting, Malik said that about 89 suspected persons had been arrested and under a new strategy, some areas would be handed over to the Rangers while others to the police. In addition, 250 personnel of Frontier Constabulary (FC) have also been called to assist police and Rangers, he added.He said that free hand had been given to conduct operations against the killer and miscreants.The minister said that he was in contact with MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali and other parties to request them to control their workers.
