Summary Supreme Court has overruled LHC verdict regarding quota for new Haj tour operators.
The SC ruled that the Haj tour operators given the quota will go ahead and sent pilgrims this year.The Lahore High Court had ordered cancellation and reallocation of the Haj quota given to private tour operators. Hearing the Federation’s appeal and other petitions filed by tour operators against the LHC decision, the Supreme Court ordered the government to devise a transparent Haj policy next year.The LHC had cancelled five tour agreements with the Saudi authorities and ordered adjustment of the registered tour operators left out in the allocation of quota.The Federation pleaded that new tour operators couldn’t be considered at this stage due to shortage of time.
