Summary CJP has said political inference hampering administration of justice.
Supreme Court has restored the services of Additional DG FIA and other officers to their posts. During the hearing CJP said political interference could clearly be seen in judicial matters. A newspaper reported that a powerful minister gave a few options to Zafar Qurashi of leaving the country, taking long leave, accepting Moonis Elahi’s bail plea or refusing to continue the investigation. PM Gilani issued the suspension orders of Zafar Qurashi after meeting with Rehman Malik and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. The AG was told the government can choose between Justice (retired) Rehmat Hussain Jafary, Raja Fiaz or Tariq Khosa for investigation. The Attorney General sought time to get government’s instructions in this regard. The Supreme Court directed that no departmental action could be taken against Zafar Qurashi until the final decision of the case.
