PEPCO announces plan to minimise load shedding in Ramazan

Summary PEPCO has decided to shut power to industry to facilitate domestic consumers in Ramazan.

The Pakistan Electric Power Company has also chalked out a strategy to tap the full capacity of the power houses. Textile, chemicals, cement, plastic, pharma are among other key industries presently exempt from electricity load shedding. These industries consume 1,500 to 2,000 megawatts.A member of the PEPCOs load management team told Dunya News that Mangla, Tarbela and Ghazi Brotha hydel plants were generating 4,500 megawatts. He said water discharge from the two bigger reservoirs would be maximised during Iftar and Sehr timings to generate extra 2,000 megawatts.
