Summary Law banning election candidature for citizens with dual nationalities already exists, it is learnt.
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Law and Justice said the Election Commission perhaps didn’t know that the law banning dual nationality-holders from contesting elections was already in place.Standing Committee Chairperson the Election Commission should ensure implementation of the law instead of giving recommendations to the legislature to come up with a new bill. The Dual Naionality Bill was introduced by PML-N’s Tasnim Siddique as a private member.
