Pakistans Ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani has said that Pakistan wants to maintain cordial relations with the US.During an interview with a US TV channel, Haqqani said that abandoning Pakistan after the first Afghan war was a mistake of the US. He said that neither the US disarmed the militants after the war nor trained Pakistani security personnel.He said that Pakistanis had resentment against the US due to lack of communication with the masses.The ambassador said that Pakistan had the realisation that it would have to normalise ties with the US, adding that Pakistan did not want an aid oriented relation with the US.Haqqani said that the US senators should not be intimidating Pakistan.He said that Musharraf did nothing to build a positive US image in front of Pakistanis.
