Summary Scores of influential have been issued prohibited bore arms import licenses over a few years.
Federal Commerce Minister Amin Fahim made this startling disclosure in a cabinet meeting chaired by PM Yousuf Raza Gilani.According to documents available with Dunya News, the Commerce Ministry had called for cancellation of arms import licenses given to 464 dealers. The ministry also sought permission for the commerce minister to issue new arms import licenses because there was a tremendous pressure on him to issue licenses to new dealers.The Cabinet was also told that every year arms and ammunition worth Rs 1 billion are imported through these dealers under state patronage, but sold in the open market.
