Summary Several people were injured in clashes between PML-N workers and police in Kotli.
In one instance, PML-N workers ransacked and set on fire Returning Officer’s office and attacked a police station. Courts were also set alight. The returning officer and the Nakyal were amongst the injured while the police in riot gear opened aerial firing to disperse PML-N workers.Police took the returning officer into protective custody. PML-N workers blocked roads to Nakyal for all traffic. Meanwhile, in LA 12, Kotli 5, PML-N and PPP workers clashed over a trivial incident of ripping election posters. Addressing a press conference, Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan accused the Kotli administration and the election commissioner of being loyal to the king than the king himself. Separately, an FIR was registered against a PPP activist on charges of stealing 14 polling bags. No arrests have been made in any of the instances.
