QUETTA (Dunya News) - Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove has urged the Pakistan Democratic Movement on Friday to cancel public meeting in Quetta due to severe security concerns, Dunya News reported.

Addressing a press conference in Quetta, Ziaullah Langove said that holding protest rallies is democratic right of opposition parties but they should refrain from holding public meeting in Quetta due to fears of terrorism.

Ziaullah Langove said that earlier in the day, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and intelligence agencies were informed that Abdul Karim Kurd, a key commander of the banned organization, was present in the Dasht area near Quetta with his accomplices and planning to carry out terrorist activities in the province.

He said that the law enforcement agencies conducted an operation in Dasht area during which the terrorists opened fire. The law enforcement agencies returned the fire due to which Abdul Karim Kurd and three other terrorists were killed.

He said that the law enforcement agencies recovered two suicide jackets, one kalashnikov, three pistols, explosive material and hand grenades from the dead terrorists.

"Please have mercy on the people of Balochistan due this deplorable law and order situation in the province and cancel your meeting," Ziaullah Langove said.

He also informed that 4,200 police personnel would be on duty for the security of the PDM rally in Quetta while routes to and from the public meeting would be closely monitored.
