Summary Govt likely to hike price of sugar, flour, ghee at utility stores
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Government has started preparations to increase the price of sugar by Rs9 per kg, 20kg bag of flour by Rs60 and ghee by Rs10 per kg at utility stores.
A summary in price hike of sugar, flour and ghee has been prepared at the utility stores. The summary will be presented at the Economic Coordination Committee meeting on Wednesday for approval.
According to the document, it has been proposed to increase the price of sugar Rs9 per kg at utility stores from Rs 68 to Rs 77 per kg.
It has been proposed to increase the price of a 20kg bag of flour by Rs60 from Rs800 to Rs860.
Preparations have also been made to increase the price of ghee by Rs10 per kg at utility stores. A proposal to increase the price of ghee from Rs170 to Rs180 will be submitted to the ECC.
According to the document, the Ministry of Industry and Production has proposed that the price hike be implemented from September 20, 2020. The Prime Minister s Relief Package on utility stores came into force on January 8, 2020, under which flour, sugar, ghee Pulses and rice are being subsidized.
