Sources in the United States administrative constituencies have told Dunya news that the US legislative bodies and various other departments have raised concern that aid cannot be given to Pakistan cannot be given aid under the current circumstances. The delays in issuance of visas to Americans and the several bureaucratic restrictions have deepened the concern. On this basis, restrictions can be imposed on the US aid being given to Pakistan.Sources in the US administration said that rather than imposing new restrictions, the terms and conditions of the Kerry-Lugar bill could be made more stringent.When asked if relations could improve following assassination of Osama Bin Laden, the sources said that given access to Bin Laden’s wives and returning the remains of the damaged helicopter were seen as a goodwill gesture.The US operation that killed Osama Bin Laden was kept confidential because if the US provided the information of terrorist hideouts in the tribal areas in Pakistan, the information would have been disclosed. The sources said that despite all the reservations, the US administration is continuing work for the sake of national security and Marc Grossman was playing a central role in this regard.
