Summary The Pakistan Army said it had questioned four majors over links to Hizb-ut-Tahrir.
Their questioning followed the arrest of a brigadier who was serving in General Headquarters (GHQ) in the garrison town of Rawalpindi.Brigadier Ali Khan, detained last month, was the highest-ranking serving officer arrested in a decade. His detention was announced only Tuesday.Military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas told a foreign news agency Wednesday the four majors had been questioned but had not been detained. They are being questioned in relation to the brigadier case, he said.Another report quoted the ISPR DG as saying that extremism is affecting all segments of society, while no outfit could be allowed to promote its culture at the cost of internal peace.Hizb-ut-Tahrir is banned in Pakistan but it enjoys full operational freedom in the UK where it has head office.
