Summary Citizens protest against long power outages in Peshawar
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Prolonged power outages in Peshawar have made the lives of citizens miserable, with angered people taking to the streets and protesting against authorities.
Power outages are reported to continue for 12 to 14 hours in Gul Bahar, Gunj, Karimpura, Saddar and other areas of Peshawar, while load shedding of 18 to 20 hours is reported in less developed areas. Citizens complain that load shedding is getting progressively worse but no one is ready to hear their concerns.
According to PESCO officials, the power system is under severe pressure due to an intense heat wave in the city which causes the transmission system to repeatedly trip because of overloading. Authorities have acknowledged the outage problem and requested citizens to cooperate.
