Summary Mike Mullen said if cooperation with Pakistan ends the country could become dangerous in the region.
US Joint Chief of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen and Defence Secretary Robert Gates gave statements on Pakistan-US relations in front of the US Defence Committee.Mike Mullen said that the US wants relations to progress with Pakistan and said that supporting Pakistan’s army in the war against terror was necessary. He said that a lot of effort had been put in the improve relation with Pakistan and he said that if the talks failed, Pakistan could become dangerous in the region within 10 years. On the other hand, Defence Secretary Robert Gates told the congress that the US could still win the war in Afghanistan. Pakistani officials arrested the person who provided information on the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden before his assassination from within Pakistan.
