LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Thursday issued a stay order against the Punjab government’s decision to impose seventeen percent sales tax on flour mills, Dunya News reported.

According to details, Justice Shahid Karim conducted hearing on the petition filed by flour millers. The claimants’ counsel argued that tax cannot be imposed on flour according to the rules.

The lawyer said the provincial government is making committees to reduce flour price on one hand and imposed seventeen percent sales tax on the other which is dishonesty.

The counsel requested the Lahore High Court to nullify the Punjab government’s decision. The LHC approved the petition for hearing while issuing stay order against imposing sales tax.
