Summary Mohsin Shahnawaz argued that cabinet committee members must be members of the Parliament.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notice to federal government in case against inclusion of special advisors of Prime Minister in privatization committee of the federal cabinet and sought reply within a week.
During the hearing of the case, Barrister Mohsin Shahnawaz argued that cabinet committee members must be members of the Parliament so appointment of Finance Advisor Abdul Hafeez Shaikh as chairman of the committee is illegal.
Barrister Mohsin further said that three members of the committee are not members of National Assembly (MNA). He added that cabinet members takes two oaths but on the other hand, advisors are appointment by just a notification.
Mohsin Shahnawaz further argues that advisors are not guardians of constitution and democracy as they don’t take oath according to the constitution, which makes their appointment as unconstitutional.
