Summary K-Electric continues load shedding in Karachi's scorching heat
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Karachi’s citizens are facing extended periods of load shedding by K Electric once again during the summer season. Despite extensive savings during lockdown period due to coronavirus, K-Electric continues using the same old excuse of shortage of furnace oil. After residential areas, industrial areas too are experiencing load shedding of ten to twelve hours.
Citizens have completely rejected the excuse, saying that despite the savings made during extended coronavirus lockdown, K-Electric is still not able to keep up with demand. Citizens in several areas, including Malir, Lines Area, Gulzar Hijri, North Karachi and Mahmoodabad are in outrage over the prolonged power outages.
Along with damaging businesses, the lack of electricity has also led to problems in supply of water. Despite repeated requests, K-Electric is refuses to provide demand and supply statistics of electric power in the city.
