IHC declares appointment of Ali Awan as Chairman LGC null and void

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday declared appointment of Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Ali Awan as Chairman of Local Government Commission (LGC) null and void.

Islamabad High Court, while hearing plea filed by Islamabad Mayor Ansar Aziz, has declared appointment of SAPM Ali Awan as illegal.

It is to pertinent to mention here that in December 2019, federal cabinet approved formation of Local Government Commission amid growing dispute between Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

During the meeting cabinet also approved appointment of MNA Ali Nawaz Awan as head of Local Government Commission.
