Summary President Asif Ali Zardari said that peace in Afghanistan was mandatory for peace in the region.
Addressing a joint press conference with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai, President Zardari said that Pakistan and Afghanistan would enhance cooperation in every realm.The Afghan president said that Afghanistan had strong ties with the democratic government of Pakistan and the two countries improved their relations. He said the Pakistan was like his second home. Karzai said that a large number of Afghan students were studying in Pakistan that showed how close the two countries were. He thanked the government of Pakistan for constructing the “best road” from Torkham to Jalalabad. “Afghanistan, like Pakistan, is taking part in the efforts to eradicate terrorism. We need to make joint efforts on this front which is in the benefit of the peoples of the two countries,” he said.
