LAHORE (Dunya News) - Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that government wants to strengthen National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Addressing media representatives, Special Assistant claimed that her party’s government is the only government whose ministers are summoned by NAB. She also said that NAB only issues summons after receiving a complaint against that individual.

Expressing her concerns about murder of Aziz Memon, she urged journalist community to ask Bilawal about pace of investigation and provision of justice to victim’s family. She also criticized report, which declared that journalist died of natural causes, and said that PM Imran had sought a report from IG Sindh.

While talking about Nawaz Sharif’s health, Firdous Ashiq said that disease of PML-N supremo was not diagnosed because his pain is ‘pain of power’. She added that government fulfilled its legal responsibility by writing letter to UK.

She also criticized opposition and said that if anyone is running around to raise their stature, government does not mind as opposition parties have been rejected by masses.

Dr. Firdous added that former prime minister Shahid Khaqan and former federal minister Ahsan Iqbal are seeking ointment for their pains and both want to avoid NAB’s questions. She urged PML-N leaders to submit proofs of their innocence in the court.

Answering a question about ‘Aurat March’, Special Assistant said that she is proud to be a woman and empowering women socially, legally and economically is the top priority of the government.

She also announced the formation of a federal censor board that will work in conjunction with the provincial censor boards across the country.
