Summary National Economic Council (NEC) approved Rs730 billion for Public Sector Development Programme.
The NEC approved Rs 730 billion towards annual development programme 2011-12, Rs 122 billion towards social sector and Rs 55 billion towards energy sector. While talking to the media in Islamabad, Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh said that Rs 430 billion were approved towards provincial development programmes and Rs 300 billion towards federal development programmes.Hafeez said that the volume of the annual development programme had been increased by 58 percent. He said that in the new annual development programme the near completion projects, foreign funded projects, backward areas, Diamir Bhasha Dam and several other projects of national importance would be given preference.
