Afghanistan takes U-turn on claim of Mullah Omar death

Summary Afghan intelligence agency took a U-turn on Mullah Omars killing and said that he had disappeared.

The Afghanistan intelligence on Monday claimed that the Taliban leader was killed by Pakistan armed forces on his way to Waziristan from Quetta. But a statement issued today by the spokesman of Afghanistan National Directorate of Security stated that Mullah Omar had been disappeared from his hideout in Quetta. The spokesman quoted unidentified sources as saying “Mullah Omar disappeared from his location in the last four or five days.”Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, in a statement said that the Taliban leader was not residing in Pakistan.
