Summary Earlier, former president Pervez Musharraf had laid foundation stone of the dam in 2007.
According to sources, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani would lay foundation stone of the dam on June 2, 2011.Earlier, work on the dam could not be started due to a dispute between Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the issue of demarcation lines and purchase of land for the dam.According to the new schedule, Diamir Bhasha Dam would cost Rs 8.94 trillion and would be completed in 10 years. The dam will produce 4,500 megawatt electricity with a capacity to store 8.1 million acre-feet water.
