Summary The PPP lawmakers in Sindh criticise the LHC verdict on the dual office of the president.
Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza presided over the session of the Sindh Assembly on Friday. The Pakistan People’s Party lawmakers, wearing black armbands, protested against the verdict of the Lahore high court that advised President Asif Ali Zardari to cease his political activities. During the question-answer session, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Awami National Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and likeminded group lawmakers went out from the house. Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that he did not care whether he would be convicted in contempt of court case, he kept on saying what he thought was right. Pir Bachal Shah said that the LHC judgement was extra judicial. Another minister, Rafique Engineer, said that such judgements were meant to weak the country. Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq said that the verdict was contradictory to the constitution and he refused to accept it.
