Summary The Punjab Assembly adopted a new amendment to the rules and regulations to elect the CM.

Moulding the process of electing the chief minister in accordance with the 18th Amendment, now the chief minister will be elected instead of being appointed.An assembly member will nominate another member as the chief minister and a third member will testify the nomination under the new procedure.As per the previous procedure, the chief minister was required to take a vote of confidence within six months of assuming the office but this condition had been removed. Only simple majority will be required to elect the leader of the house from now on under the new amendment.
