ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) amendment bill was presented in the Senate today (September 2) which proposed not to give authority to the NAB chairman Justice Javed Iqbal and accountability courts to arrest and grant bail respectively.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Farooq H. Naik proposed the bill which stated that national institution should only investigate the mega-corruption cases and accused should not be handed over in the custody of the NAB.
It further proposed that plea bargain applicant should not be jailed whereas accused should also be allowed to contest the elections. The Senate passed the bill to the relevant committee.
Trade Organization Bill 2019, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Act Bill, Pure Food Ordinance 2013, Constitutional Amendment Bill for increasing the seats in the National Assembly and Pakistan Amendment Bill 2019 were also introduced in the Senate.
