Summary The CJP says Rs 460 million has still not been recovered in Hajj corruption case.

A four-member Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the Hajj corruption case on Friday. The court gave a week to the federal government to revoke the transfer orders of those Federal Investigation Agency officials who were probing the Hajj case. The CJP remarked that the case was being heard for three months but no progress had been made and Rs 460 million had still not been recovered. The counsel for the federal government, Abdul Hafiz Pirzada, sought more time, saying that only the prime minister could withdraw the transfer orders of the probing officers, Javed Bukhari and Hussain Asghar, and he was not in the country. Giving one more week to the government, the court adjourned the hearing until May 13. During the previous hearing, the Supreme Court had directed the Federal Investigation Agency to withdraw transfer orders of those officers who were probing the Hajj corruption case.
