Summary The 20th Pak-US Defence Consultative Group (DCG) was held in Washington on Wednesday.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Secretary of Defense Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Syed Athar Ali while the US delegation led by US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Ms Michèle Flournoy. In a statement issues after the meeting both the delegations agreed that after the death of Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, the impotence of joint efforts between the two countries has increased. They agreed that the defence ties between the two countries are vital for strategic partnership.During the meeting, both the participants reviewed the aims for the defense cooperation.The Pakistani delegation briefed the meeting about the Pakistan military’s operations since the last DCG meeting in August 2010. Similarly the US delegation briefed the meeting about the operations by the International Security Assistance Force activities in Afghanistan.
