The Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought an explanation from the Religious Affairs Ministry about the pilgrims offered by officials on the government’s expense. The petitioner’s lawyer, Iqbal Jaffery, told the court that the government officials offered Hajj and Umrah on government’s expenses, which was an unnecessary burden on the national exchequer. The lawyer requested the court to issue a stay order on such pilgrims.Adjourning the hearing of the case until May 19, the court ordered the Religious Affairs Ministry to submit its reply on the matter.
