LAHORE (Dunya News) - Federal Board of Revenue chairman Shabbar Zaidi addressed in a seminar today (May 24) that a benami law was formed to capture the tax evaders which hasn’t been implemented yet. It is important for us all to understand it.
Shabbar Zaidi ensured that Amnesty Tax Scheme will reduce the problems for people. “Government has introduced such an easy and simple scheme,” he added. There should be no proximity between tax payers and income tax officers. “I want to take advice from everyone to solve the corruption of every institute”, he expressed.
FBR chairman asserted that it will not be easy to take money out of Pakistan in future. Your money will be more secure in Pakistan now, he added.
He informed that there are one lac registered companies in Pakistan. Out of which only 50 thousand companies pay tax. “My intention is to capture the company rather than going after each individual,” he expressed.
He said that there is a wrong impression about parliamentarians that they do not pay taxes. He stated that capturing one of the tax evaders is not the solution. “I believe that one should go after the whole company which evades taxes instead of going after individuals”, he added.
He further said that all industries like sugar, paper, steel and properties need to be documented which will automatically reveal the corrupts.
