Summary We must rise and join to protect our future generations from vile and despicable elements

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor on Wednesday said that brutal murder of innocent Farishta is highly condemnable.

DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor took to the twitter and said that those responsible must be brought to justice, adding that the Army is ready to provide any support in this regard.

He added “We must rise and join to protect our future generations from vile and despicable elements who prey on vulnerable children.”

It is pertinent here to mention that Farishta was earlier killed after being allegedly raped in Islamabad, and her body was thrown in the forest following the horrific crime. Farishta vanished in Islamabad on 15 May and a body believed to be hers was found on 20 May.

The girl’s family said they had reported her missing to the police on May 15. The family claimed it took the police till May 19 to register an FIR and even then a proper search was not launched. The body of the minor was discovered by locals in a forest who then informed the police.

Further details suggested that the minor girl was tortured and some parts of her body were eaten by animals. Due to less evidences, it was difficult to conduct post-mortem.

Police are investigating if she was raped and tortured, and protests are being held to demand justice.

The family of a 10-year-old girl who was abducted and murdered have said they were ignored by police when they tried to report her missing.

They say police told them the child might have eloped, and they were made to carry out errands for officers

Hundreds protested in central Islamabad on Tuesday calling for justice.

The case has been compared to the rape and murder of six-year-old Zainab Ansari in January 2018 - which sparked outrage and protests across the country. Calls for action are being made on social media, under the hashtag #JusticeForFarishta.
