Summary Committee will consist of members from SUPARCO, Meteorological Department and Science and Technology
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said a five-member committee has been set-up to decide a ten-year calendar for Muharram, Eids and Ramadan to end dispute arising from moon sighting.
In a tweet on Sunday, he said the committee will consist of members from SUPARCO, Meteorological Department and Science and Technology.
The committee will prepare an Islamic calendar of important dates and months for the next 10 years including Ramzan, Eid, and Muharram, which will put an end to the moon-sighting controversies that arise every year, the minister added.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee with Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman in the chair will meet in Karachi today for the sighting of the crescent of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of Ramzan moon sighting on the evening of May 6 (Monday).
