Summary Nepra has approved the increase in electricity tariff by one rupee per unit.
The Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA) had filed a requisition with Nepra demanding it to increase the electricity tariff. The Agency took the plea that the cost of the electricity generation was increased due to hike in diesel prices last month.It further added that electricity theft and transmission losses had caused the tariff to be increased by 22 paisas per unit last month.The CPPA demanded that the electricity tariff be raised by Rs 1.4 per unit; however, Nepra approved an increase of Re 1 per unit.
