Summary The hiking of power tariff by Rs 1.04 per unit is expected during next month.
In an application submitted to NEPRA, the Central Power and Purchase Agency maintained that the cost of power generation by diesel during the last month remained Rs 15 per unit while it was sold at Rs 7.16 per unit. The tariff was also increased last month by Rs 0.22 due to power theft and the transmission losses.NEPRA was requested to permit a power tariff increase by Rs 1.04 per unit. The final decision would be taken tomorrow after the hearing of the application.
