KARACHI (Dunya News) – National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has started giving licenses to produce and transmit solar energy in order to overcome the shortfall of energy in the country.
According to Dunya News sources, the customers now can install solar energy at homes and at industry. The licensed customers can also sell this energy to others by producing the power through net metering. NEPRA has issued 82 licenses through net metering till now.
To get a license the customer has to submit an application in electricity distribution companies. These companies would then investigate how much energy can be produced at applicant’s location. NEPRA would then issue a license.
If the energy produced through solar panels is 750KWH and the consumption is 500KWH then the distribution company will buy the additional energy itself.
