A three-member Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the contempt of court case against the Pakistan People’s Party leaders Sharjeel Memon and Taj Haider on Monday. Sharjeel Memon sought one month’s time before the next hearing, stating that he was busy in budget preparations and his lawyer Abdul Hafeez Pirzada was out of the country.The Chief Justice said that Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had asked Pirzada to assist the court in this case so Memon should find another lawyer.The court adjourned the hearing till May 27.The Supreme Court had issued contempt of court notices to PPP leaders after they commented against the SC verdict regarding the appointment of Deedar Hussain Shah as Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
