The hearing of contempt petitions against the federal government, for delay in issuance of a notification for the appointment of six judges on court orders, will be held on Monday. A four-member bench headed by Justice M.A. Shahid Siddiqui will hear the case. The petitioners maintained that the parliamentary committee had rejected the appointment of six judges referred by the judicial commission but the Supreme Court, while nullifying the decision of the parliamentary committee, had dismissed the review petitions filed by the federal government. The court had also ordered the government to issue the notification for appointment of these judges. The government has not yet followed the court orders. The SC will hear the contempt of court petitions against the federal government on Monday.
