Sothern Punjab including Multan faces 575MW shortfall, due to which load shedding period reaches 14-hour. In Faisalabad, the load shedding duration has reached 16 hours and traders have decided to protest against the unscheduled load shedding from April 23. Traders have annouced to stage rallies from April 23 against 8-10 hour loadshedding.Citizens in Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Khoshab, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Chiniot are also facing problems due to loadshedding.In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, duration of loadshedding has reached 18 hours a day. In Sindh, urban areas are facing 6-8 hour loadshedding while rural areas are facing 12-14 hour loadshedding.According to sources, the country has a capacity of producing 17,000MW, but due to shortage of gas and furnace oil, thermal production has decreased by 50 percent and hydal production has also decreased by 70 percent. Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar said that loadsheding would continue this year as well and electricity shortfall would remain 2500MW to 3500MW during May and September 2011.
