Summary Mazari hoped that worthy members will be appointed in ECP.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari on Tuesday was unanimously elected as the chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on appointment of Members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Khurshid Shah, Muhammad Mian Somro, Fakhar Imam, Azam Swati, Power Minister Umer Ayub and Shireen Mazari attended the first meeting.
Shah and Somro nominated Mazari for the chairperson’s post. Other also supported the decision.
After being elected chairperson, the Minister for Human Rights hoped that worthy members will be appointed in ECP. She asserted that the members will be selected without the giving preference to any party.
“I hope that our decision will be unanimous so that no electoral process in future is questioned,” said Shireen Mazari.
Shah stressed that such members should be assigned who can ensure free and fair elections in the country.
Swati declared that democracy will be strengthened if ECP perform its duties well.
