Updated on

Summary Only three out of 14 power generation units are in the operational mode.

Water reached dead level in Tarbela Dam on Monday, while water is expected to reach dead level in Mangla Dam on April 23.On the other hand, Punjab has filed a review application with the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) against cut in its share of water by 45 percent.According to data released by the IRSA, the water shortfall has adversely affected electricity generation as only three out of 14 power generation units are in the operational mode. The water reservoir in Mangla Dam contains 200,000 cusecs water, while its level has reached only 34 feet.According to IRSA officials, Mangla Dam reservoir should have 80 percent water by June 30, but this target seemed to be unachievable giving the present weather conditions. On the other hand, Punjab has also demanded the IRSA keep its share of water in dams instead of giving it to Sindh.
