The Lahore High Court (LHC) chief justice has ordered the Punjab chief secretary to form a commission on young doctors’ strike and submit a report within 15 days.LHC CJ Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry remarked that the Punjab chief minister used to sack two officers daily then why he was silent on doctors’ issue.When the LHC CJ started the hearing of a case about the strike of young doctors, the chief secretary told the court that young doctors of Punjab had called off their strike. The CJ remarked that why an incompetent health minister was not sacked yet and every section of society had started to take to streets in favour of their demands.Justice Ijaz further said that doctors would not be allowed to play with the lives of people and action would be taken against those responsible for patients’ deaths to avoid such incidents in the future.The Young Doctors Association president told the court that doctors never closed emergency wards but another doctor, while rejecting his claim, held doctors’ association responsible for deaths.The CJ said that no one would be spared, even officers of the Punjab government. The case has been adjourned for 15 days.
