Summary SC on Friday ordered that action be taken against Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik.
The Supreme Court heard the case of Hajj Corruption case. The additional director general FIA presented the report regarding the people who went to Hajj without paying any dues. He also presented a letter, saying that Secretary to Federal Interior Javaid Iqbal Raja, had written a letter to pay housing charge of the government sponsored Hajis. The CJP Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhhry ordered the arrest of Javaid Raja and to recover all the expenses. The additional DG told the court that Rehman Malik was in Dubai and he had promised to deposit all the amount after his return. The CJP observed that it was also a proof against the interior minister, therefore, an action should be taken against him. Justice Fayyaz said that the minister was not above the law. The CJP also directed that a complete list of those who had offered Hajj without depositing Hajj dues should be presented before the court. He said that poor services were provided to the pilgrims, adding that there was no one to take care of the pilgrims.
