Summary Ban imposed by ECP on transfers is only applicable in the constituencies holding by-elections.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Cabinet Division on Wednesday has demanded Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to withdraw notification of suspending Punjab Inspector General’s (IG) transfer.

According to details, the Cabinet Division adopted the stance that the ban on transfers and replacements is only applicable in the constituencies holding by-elections.

On Tuesday, ECP had cancelled the federal government’s notification to replace Punjab police chief Tahir Khan with Amjad Javed Saleemi and sought reply from Punjab Chief Secretary in this regard.

The decision came after Amjad Javed Saleemi, a BS-22 officer currently serving as Commandant in National Police Academy under Interior Division, was appointed as new Punjab Inspector General.
